Scott J. Soave, OD, FAAO, ACMO
Originally from downstate, Dr. Soave has returned to his roots after spending time across the country and is now happy to call Traverse City home.
After completing his undergraduate studies in Biomedical Science at Grand Valley State University, he attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia obtaining his Doctorate in Optometry in 2009. He then elected to pursue a residency in ocular disease and was selected by the highly competitive Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital in Sacaton, Arizona .
After completing his residency he took a staff position at the hospital, serving patients with some of the highest rates of diabetes in the world. In the subsequent years he became a fellow with the American Academy, faculty at four schools of optometry, and was awarded Arizona's "Young Optometrist of the Year" in 2015.
Dr. Soave has a passion for eye care. He enjoys meeting people, problem solving, and learning: He has completed advanced competency testing in medical eye care and has been teaching ocular disease for many years. He treats and manages a wide array of eye diseases, ocular trauma, and enjoys primary eye care examinations.
Dr. Soave is loving all that Northwest Michigan has to offer with his two young and energetic boys, Cole and Wyatt. Dr. Soave enjoys hiking, woodworking, spending time on the water, and any type of DIY project.
Johanna Mauk, O.D.
Originally from Traverse City, Dr. Mauk is thrilled to return to her hometown for the opportunity to serve the community that is near and dear to her heart.
Following graduating from Central High School, Dr. Mauk earned her associates degree at Northwestern Michigan College. From there, she completed her undergraduate studies at Ferris State University earning a Bachelor’s in Biology/Pre-Optometry. Dr. Mauk then went on to earn her Doctorate in Optometry from the Michigan College of Optometry in 2016.
Since 2016 Dr. Mauk has enjoyed the private practice setting in Cheboygan, MI and with experience treating and managing a variety of eye diseases, fitting contact lenses, and doing primary eye care exams, she is an incredible asset to our team. Dr. Mauk also has experience and enjoys working with the special needs population and pediatric patients. Dr. Mauk is passionate about improving her patients' quality of life through their vision and ocular health.
Dr. Mauk married her high school sweetheart, Jeff, and together they have a son and two dogs. Dr. Mauk enjoys cooking new recipes, spending time with family and doing anything outdoors!
